INDIANS FALL SHORT AGAIN, 13-12...
STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
SPRINGFIELD - Piqua baseball coach Chris Barr has seen it too many times this season.
The Piqua baseball team was right on the verge of a big win Thursday night, before losing to Springfield North 13-12.
"We outhit them, we had more guys on base," Piqua coach Chris Barr said. "But, we walked five and they only walked one. That was the difference in the game."
The Indians pounded out 16 hits in the game.
"We just didn't get a break at the end of the game," Barr said. "Again, it is the same story. I keep telling the kids at some point we are going to put offense, defense and pitching together on the same night. When we do, we are going to be a force in the tournament - if we can do that."
Shea Selsor was 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and three RBI. Kyle Selover, Kiel Feeser and Justin Jennings were all 2-for-4.
Gaaj Meyer was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, while Taylor Gertner was 2-for-5.
Feeser, Willie Monbeck and Jennings combined on the pitching effort.
"Everybody hit the ball well," Barr said. "We got down 3-0. We took a 4-3 lead, then we got down and were playing from behind the rest of the game. Justin Jennings did a nice job in relief."
Piqua will host Trotwood-Madison today.
