INDIANS FALL TO STATE-RANKED LIMA SHAWNEE...

STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
LIMA - The Piqua baseball team prepared for a big week by playing a doubleheader against one of the state's best Saturday.

Lima Shawnee, 17-3 and ranked fifth in the state in Division II, won the first game 6-5 and took the second game 9-3.

"We played really well the first game," Piqua coach Chris Barr said. "We just don't make the plays at the end of the game that you need to make to finish off the game. We have lost so many one run games. Whether it is an error or a mistake, something always happens to us."

Kyle Selover was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI, while Justin Jennings was 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Shea Selsor added a double.

Taylor Gertner, Gaaj Meyer and Kiel Feeser handled the pitching duties.

Freshman Aaron Christy pitched the first five innings of the second game, with Justin Jennings finishing up.

"Aaron (Christy) showed me a lot," Barr said. "He had more command than he had against Graham. He only walked one. Lima Shawnee is a really good team. We have three league games this week and they are all against the top teams in the league."

Piqua will play at Troy today.
