PIAB - Reflecting On The Season Opener...

| The Piqua Indian Athletic Boosters held a "Tailgate Party" prior to the Indians' game against St. Marys. |

SEPTEMBER 17, 2007 If you didn’t get an opportunity to join the festivities at the recent Football Tailgate Party then you missed a wonderful kick-off to the 2007 football season. “The chicken was outstanding, the band sounded great and it was fun to hear Sonny and the boys talking football” was a comment made from an attendee. And indeed it was! For two hours prior to the kick off the Piqua Indian Athletic Boosters volunteers served up 350 chicken dinners as the Piqua Band played to the enthused crowd. Sonny Fulks and company (1570 WPTW) gave their insights to the 2007 football season and countless kids displayed their skills in the Punt, Pass and Kick Competition. Not a bad way to start the season. The Army rock climbing wall was also a big hit with the crowd. The boosters would like to take this opportunity to thank the countless volunteers that made this event possible. Barry Gertner (event coordinator) did an outstanding job of organizing this event so that all the volunteers were in the stadium at 7:00 P.M. to root for our Indians.
To say that PIAB was hitting on all cylinders that night is an understatement. Not only did we have a record number of volunteers (27) for the Tailgate Party but we also had volunteers running our booster window in the stadium, 50/50 tickets sales, program sales and our air-cannon launch crew all running simultaneously that night! It clearly showed that the Piqua Indian Athletic Boosters have a foundation of volunteers that will enable some pretty exciting fundraising events in the future.
In other news, the IRS recently notified Carolyn Magoteaux (PIAB Treasurer) that the Piqua Indian Athletic Boosters have been approved for the tax free status under the section 501 (C) 3. This is significant for the contributors to PIAB in that their contributions are now tax deductible!
Since November 2006 the Piqua Indian Athletic Boosters have contributed nearly $9000.00 to our athletic programs. Our Football, Boys & Girls Soccer, Girls Cross Country, Golf, Girls Basketball and Volleyball programs have all recently benefited by the fundraising efforts of PIAB and countless community supporters!
Looking down the road one thing is clear. The Piqua Indian Athletic Boosters are a growing organization that has the enrichment of our athletes and athletic programs as the number one priority.
