BOWLERS DEFEAT SPRINGFIELD SOUTH...

STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
The Piqua boys bowling team defeated Springfield South at Brel-Aire Lanes, while the girls lost a close match.

The Piqua boys won 2,087 to 1,878.

Piqua was led by Cevin Branson with a 224 and 186 for a 410 series.

Mark Wright bowled very consistent with a 200 and a 210 for a 410 series.

Also coming on strong was Ryan Smith with a nice 183 and Kenny Bailey had a 179 game.

“The kids bowled very well today in their match,” Piqua coach Eric Wagner said. “Even though my top bowlers didn’t bowl up to their abilities, the reserve boys came through with a strong showing to pick up the slack.

“I was very proud of the boys today this is a good stepping stone for the rest of the week since we have a big week ahead of us.

For the girls, Kayla Miller bowled very well with a 156 and a 170 game for a 326 series. Haley Kiser bowled very good with a 133 game.

“The girls are bowling better and better has time goes on and I am happy with the progress they are making,” Wagner said. “I think the girls will keep getting better and better and will go a long way the rest of the year.”

Piqua will bowl Fairmont on Wednesday.
