PIQUA FALLS TO RIVAL TROY...

STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
Piqua boys basketball coach Marcus Bixler was hoping two weeks off would bring back the team he had seen start the season with five wins in six games.

But, that was not the case Friday night at Garbry Gymnasium. The Indians could never get untracked offensively in a 56-49 loss to Troy in GWOC North action.

“If we could just knock down some shots, that would make a huge difference,” Bixler said. “If you look at the shots we had tonight, we had great looks from the guys we wanted shooting the ball. We didn’t take many bad shots.”

The result was a game played at the tempo dictated by Troy.

Piqua led 12-6 after one quarter, but it was a struggle the rest of the night for the Indians.

By halftime, the score was tied 21-21. Wes Reed scored the first points of the third quarter to put the Indians up 23-21. But, Troy ran off nine straight points and Piqua never really recovered.

Hemm led Piqua with 15 points, while Reed added 13 points and five rebounds.

Piqua was 19 of 49 from the floor for 39 percent and seven of 12 from the line for 58 percent.

Piqua will host Wapakoneta tonight.
