PIQUA REBOUNDS TO BEAT WAPAK...

STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
David Rolf was a man among boys. Justin Hemm and Tyrell Knox each hit a timely three. Wes Reed had a huge fourth quarter.

And most importantly, Piqua snapped a three-game losing streak with a 54-47 win over Wapakoneta.

“This was a huge win,” Reed said. “We had just been struggling and we needed this game.”

Rolf turned in his most dominating performance since early in the season, scoring 19 points in the first three quarters and finishing with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

“We just needed to do something different,” Rolf said. “They did a great job getting me the ball and the coaches came up with a great game plan.”

Piqua was 21 of 46 from the floor for 46 percent and eight of 19 from the line for 42 percent.

Piqua won the battle of the boards 27-20 and had 11 turnovers to Wapakoneta’s 15.

The Indians will travel to Trotwood-Madison Tuesday, before hosting Northmont Friday.

And it will be a team playing with a little more confidence.
