PIQUA CAN'T PUT BALL IN NET AGAINST MIAMISBURG...

STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
MIAMISBURG — There was a re-occurring theme for the Piqua boys soccer team Thursday in a 1-0 loss at Miamisburg.

“We just can’t put the ball in the net,” Piqua coach Chad Haemmerle said. “We don’t give ourselves a lot of opportunities and when we do, we don’t take advantage of them.”

Miamisburg, who scored the goal 10 minutes into the second half, didn’t get a lot of opportunities either, as Tommy Holfinger had six saves in goal.

“They didn’t get a lot of shots,” Haemmerle said. “In fact, they probably had more great opportunities in the first half. But, the bottom line is they found a way to get one in the net.”

Which is something Piqua is struggling to do.

“One goal is not a lot to give up,” Haemmerle said. “When you give up one goal, you feel like you should come away with at least a tie. We just have to find a way to score and we are really struggling with that right now.”

Piqua, 5-9-1, will close the regular season at Miami East Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Indians will host Troy in a first round tournament game at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Wertz Stadium.
