PIQUA BOYS FINISH SIXTH AT TROY...
STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
TROY The Piqua boys track and field team exceeded expectations in one sense at the Troy Invitational Friday night.
The Indians scored 64 points to finish sixth.
The Piqua relays shined, with the Indians taking second in three of those four events.
The 3,200 relay (Kyle Gambill, Chad Warner, Cody Owen, Brandon Spruance) was second in 8:45.83; the 800 relay (James Dunn, Ryan Walters, Justin Hemm, Mike Mayor) was second in 1:33.21; and the 400 relay (Isaiah Blair, James Dunn, Justin Hemm, Mike Mayor) was second in 44.19.
Mayor added a third in the 200, 22.93; while Ryan Walters did the same in the long jump with leap of 19-0 1-4.
Gomez White and David Rolf went 3-4 in the high jump.
White slipped on his last attempt and nearly cleared 5-10, which would have won the event for him.
Rolf stopped after 5-8.
Piqua will compete in the Wittenberg Invitational Tuesday.
