For Piqua coach Brad Allen there were a number of positives, in spit of a 67-41 loss at the hands of Greenville.

The Indians held an early 8-4 lead, sparked by six points by Kami Baker.

But, Greenville quickly turned the tables, leading 18-10 by the end of the first quarter.

“We got off to a good start,” Allen said. “But, the turnovers hurt us and then we had all our starters on the bench with at least two fouls in the second quarter. Not to take anything away from our bench. They all gave a great effort.”

Piqua also had a a 10-2 run to open the second half and make it 41-31 midway through the third quarter.

“The kids didn’t quit,” Allen said. “We talked about the fact you can’t erase an 18-point deficit in the first two minutes of the third quarter. We wanted to get the deficit down to single digits by the end of the third quarter.

“And midway through the third quarter, we were within 10 and it looked like we were going to do that.”

But, the Lady Wave opened the lead back up to 54-33 after three quarters and finished off the game from there.

Kami Baker led Piqua with 16 points, while Kristen Magoteaux grabbed eight rebounds.

Piqua was 13 of 39 from the floor for 33 percent and 13 of 24 from the line from 54 percent.

Greenville won the battle of the boards 38-35 and had 23 turnovers to Piqua’s 34.

Piqua will play at Beavercreek Wednesday.
