GREAT EFFORT FOR PIQUA IN LOSS TO TROY...
STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
It was a loss only on the scoreboard for the Piqua girls basketball team Saturday.
The Lady Indians played some of their best basketball of the season against Troy, leading by 11 at one point, before losing 45-38 in GWOC North action.
“That was an exciting game for us,” Piqua coach Brad Allen said. “The kids all wrote down individual goals this week and then I added a team goal. I wanted to see us play for 32 minutes and we did that today. It was a battle to the very end.”
Kami Baker had 11 points and five rebounds for the Lady Indians. Quinter had nine points and nine rebounds, while Miranda Baker added eight points and seven rebounds.
Piqua was 16 of 50 from the floor for 32 percent and four of six from the line for 67 percent.
Troy won the battle of boards 31-30 and had 14 turnovers to Piqua’s 20.
The Lady Indians travel to Northmont Wednesday, looking to build on what they did against Troy.
