PIQUA ROMPS SPRINFIELD NORTH, 7-0...
STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
The Piqua girls soccer team preceded the boys action with a 7-0 romp over Springfield North.
“They only have about 18 players,” Rob Alexander said. “They don’t have a real strong team. In the second half, we moved a lot of defensive guys up top and worked on different things like controlling the ball.
“It easily could have been 15-0 if we wanted it to be. Now, we have some tough opponents coming up, starting with Wayne and Celina.”
Alex Jess continued to be a finisher. She followed up a four-goal game against Newton with three goals against North.
“Alex (Jess) is on a real tear right now,” Alexander said. “She has something like seven goals on the season already. We have two wins in a row, now we have to get ready for some tougher matches.”
Maggie Warner, Sarah Bell, Laura Deal and Bethany Alexander all added goals for the Lady Indians.
Piqua will play at Wayne Wednesday.
