PIQUA GIRLS TAKE HOME THREE GOLDS AT TROY...

TROY Piqua senior Katie Wright and junior Diamond Clemons took home the gold medals in throwing competition in the Troy Invitational Friday night, while junior Brianna Saine won the 100-meter dash for the Lady Indians.
It was a special night for Wright, who picked up her first invitational title in the shot put. She had a put of 32-11 1-4, while Clemons was second with a distiance of 32-4 1-4.
In the discuss, Clemons uncorked a throw of 104-2 to edge Brittany Harter of Greenville by two feet. Wright was fifth with a throw of 91-5.
Saine was actually running in an outside lane in the 100, but outraced the field to the finish line in 13.47. That was one-tenth of a second in front of Northmont’s Dawnetta Cantrell. Saine added a third-place finish in 200 in 27.57.
Katie Owen earned the iron-girl award. After finishing fifth in the 2000 Steeplechase to start the meet, she ran the anchor leg of the 3,200 relay moments later, helping them to a sixth-place finish.
Piqua will run at the Wittenberg Invitational Tuesday.
