PIQUA PICKS UP ITS GAME AGAINST NORTHMONT...
STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
The Piqua boys golf team turned things around in a big way Thursday, knocking off Northmont 160-166 at Larch Tree Golf Course.
“I was really pleased with the way the kids came back tonight,” Piqua coach Chris Barr said. “Especially, because we had a couple bad breaks and came back. The course wasn’t in the greatest condition because of the dry weather. The kids played great.”
Ben Gover continued an outstanding fall, with a one-under par 35. He is two-over par for his last 54 holes.
“Ben had one bad week this year,” Barr said. “Other than that, he has played great. He didn’t have one bogey tonight. To go around with one birdie and eight pars is not an easy thing to do.”
Kiel Feeser lowered his score by 13 shots from Wednesday with 39 and Brody Fox had a 40.
“Those are three really good scores,” Barr said. “Kiel and Brody both got off to bad starts and came back. That is not an easy thing to do.”
Kyle Brumbaugh and Jordan Fashner carded 46s, while David Duer added a 49.
“David had a head cold and wasn’t feeling good tonight,” Barr said. “That and he got some bad breaks. But, the guys really played well.”
Piqua will play Tipp City at Troy Country Club tonight.
