BEN GOVER CLOSES OUT CAREER AT DISTRICT...
STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
WEST MIDDLETOWN It wasn’t the finish he had hoped for.
But, he never could have anticipated the weather he was going to have to deal with either.
Piqua senior Ben Gover’s outstanding golf career ended with an 85 in the Southwest District golf tournament Wednesday at Weatherwax Golf Course.
The golfers were greeted by cold, windy weather.
“It was really tough out there at times,” Gover said about the weather. “But, I hung in there and shot a 41 on the front nine.”
Which gave Gover hope for the back nine on the Highlands.
“I had played that nine (Highlands) better in the practice rounds,” Gover said. “For most of the nine, I hung in there. I kind of blew up at the end. I feel good about the fact I was able to get down to district.”
As did Piqua coach Chris Barr.
