LADY INDIANS SHUT OUT FAIRBORN, 2-0...
The wet spring has been brutal on area diamonds, including the Lady Indians' home field, which wasn't playable for Monday's scheduled home contest against Fairborn.
In order to get the game in, the contest was moved to Fairborn.
The location didn't matter as Piqua ended a four-game skid with an impressive 2-0 victory.
The Lady Indians' two runs came in the fourth and fifth innings as Piqua pounded out 12 hits on the afternoon.
Jessica Wilhelm went 3-for-3 at the plate, while Betsy Stine was 3-for-4. Kat Nicodemus and Miranda Baker each doubled in the contest.
Tina Byrd picked up the victory on the mound with a three-hitter. She went the distance, striking out eight and walking just two batters.
Byrd also had a solid defense behind her as Piqua didn't have a single error on the afternoon.
The victory pushed Piqua's record to 2-4 on the season. The Lady Indians host Springfield South on Wednesday.
