PIQUA BLANKS TROTWOOD 20-0...
STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
Tina Byrd and Adrienne Tisher were "pitcher perfect" and the Piqua softball team took care of business in a 20-0 win over Trotwood-Madison in five innings Tuesday.
"I wanted the kids to stay sharp and stay focused," Piqua coach Rick Claprood said. "I wanted to see them stay on their game and they did that."
Byrd pitched the first two innings, with Tisher hurling the final three. They faced the minimum 15 batters, with 11 outs coming on strikeouts.
Byrd struck out four and Tisher fanned seven.
"What can you say about Adrienne (Tisher)," Claprood said. "She came in and threw three solid innings."
Sarah Turner was 3-for-3 at the plate and Nikki Payne was 2-for-3.
Morgan Hughes and Jessica Wilhelm both had hits, as Piqua took advantage of 10 Trotwood walks.
Piqua will play at Centerville today.
