PIQUA BEATS FAIRBORN IN FIVE GAMES...
STORY BY ROB KISER - PIQUA DAILY CALL
The Piqua volleyball team prepped for Saturday’s Piqua Invitational with a five-game win at Fairborn Thursday night.
The Lady Indians won 21-25, 25-11, 25-22, 24-26, 15-9 to improve to 4-4.
“Right off the bat tonight, we figured out that Fairborn likes to serve deep and aggressive,” Piqua coach Chris Davis said. “That really caught us off guard. We had to pick up our heads after we made a few mistakes.”
Piqua won the second and third games. After dropping the fourth game, the Lady Indians came back to take the fifth game.
“The girls never gave up,” Davis said. “I think every match we are getting better. Our defense is touching more and more balls.”
Davis praised the play of sophomore Kayle Quinter, who has moved up from the JV.
“Kayle Quinter is doing a great job with blocking, digs and kills, which is exactly what helps your team win matches.”
